Meet The Team

Kelly Summy, President

Kelly Summy is a highly experienced professional farm manager with a career spanning 40 years. He is recognized as an accredited farm manager (AFM) and upholds the code of ethics established by the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers.

Prior to his farm management career, Kelly gained 15 years of banking experience. He worked at various financial institutions, including Co. Bluffs Savings Bank, where he served as a farm manager, loan officer, and trust officer for six years. He then spent two years as a regional farm manager at Hawkeye Bank and seven years as a farm manager at First Commerce Bank. Additionally, Kelly provided agricultural consulting services during two trips to the Slovak Republic.

Kelly’s connection to agriculture began in Crescent, Iowa, where he grew up on the family farm. He attended Co. Bluffs Thomas Jefferson High School and earned a B.S. degree in Ag Business from Iowa State University, further enhancing his knowledge and understanding of the agricultural industry.

Throughout his career, Kelly has been actively involved in various professional and community organizations. He served as the president of the Iowa Chapter of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers, demonstrating his leadership abilities and dedication to his field. Additionally, he contributed to the community as a board member of the Co. Bluffs Chamber of Commerce and the Pottawattamie County Conservation Foundation. Kelly also actively participates in the Council Bluffs Chamber Ag Committee and served as chair of the Pottawattamie County Community Foundation.

Furthermore, Kelly is a member of Salem United Methodist Church, reflecting his involvement in his local religious community and his commitment to his faith.

Evan Summy, Vice President

Evan is an accomplished professional with a strong background in real estate and community involvement. He joined Midwest Ag Services, Inc. in January 2012 after graduating from Iowa State University with a B.S. degree in Business Management in 2011.

Evan holds a license as an Iowa associate real estate broker, allowing him to practice real estate transactions in the state. Additionally, he possesses an Iowa certified general real estate appraiser’s license, indicating his expertise in property appraisal. Evan’s commitment to professional growth is demonstrated by his membership in the American Society of Farm Managers & Rural Appraisers, an organization that promotes excellence in agricultural management and rural appraisal.

Beyond his professional achievements, Evan has actively engaged with his community. He served as the past chair of the executive board and the regular board of directors for the Council Bluffs Chamber of Commerce, showcasing his leadership skills and dedication to local business development. Furthermore, Evan holds the position of chair on the board of directors for the Iowa Western Mutual Insurance Association, where he contributes to the insurance industry’s advancement.

Evan’s commitment to the agricultural sector extends to his involvement with the Council Bluffs, Iowa Chamber Ag Committee, where he actively participates in discussions and initiatives related to agriculture in the community. Additionally, he graduated from the Leadership Council Bluffs program, Class of 26, showcasing his commitment to personal and professional development.

Evan’s contributions to his profession and community have not gone unnoticed. He received the ASFMRA Iowa Chapter Early Career Award in February 2016, recognizing his achievements and potential within the field. Moreover, the Midlands Business Journal honored him as a 2016 40 Under 40 award winner, highlighting his accomplishments and impact as a young professional.

Outside of his professional and community involvements, Evan is a member of the Salem United Methodist Church, indicating his dedication to his faith and participation in his local religious community.

Nick Gray, Salesperson

Nick’s upbringing on a small farm in Villisca, Iowa, laid the foundation for his deep connection to the land and the outdoors. His father’s cow herd and summer backgrounding of calves exposed him to the realities of farming and instilled in him a strong work ethic. Additionally, his father introduced him to hunting and fishing, which became lifelong hobbies for Nick.

After graduating from Villisca High School, Nick pursued higher education at Northwest Missouri State University. There, he successfully completed a double major in Business Management and Marketing, equipping him with valuable knowledge and skills for the professional world.

Following his college education, Nick embarked on a 12-year career in the banking industry. He held various positions, including Credit Analyst, Ag Lender, and eventually Market President. This experience allowed him to develop a deep understanding of financial matters and agricultural lending, furthering his connection to the farming community.

Eventually, Nick decided to make a career transition and ventured into the real estate industry. He began managing and selling real estate, leveraging his knowledge of the local market and his business acumen.

Presently, Nick resides on a farm outside of Villisca with his wife, Susan, and their three children: Sloane, Brandt, and Maverick. Susan works as a Respiratory Therapist at the Clarinda Regional Health Center, contributing to the healthcare field. Their children attend Stanton Community Schools, where they receive their education.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Nick maintains his own small farming operation. This allows him to stay connected to his agricultural roots and continue the traditions passed down by his father.

During his free time, Nick enjoys the outdoors, engaging in activities such as hunting and fishing. He also finds fulfillment in coaching his children in football, baseball, and basketball, actively participating in their growth and development.

Overall, Nick’s life revolves around his family, his farming operation, and his passion for the outdoors, complemented by his diverse professional experiences in banking and real estate.
